A homicide investigation has been launched following the death in Gisborne

A homicide investigation is underway after a man who was taken to hospital from a Gisborne home with serious injuries died.

Police were called at 4:20 a.m. Monday after the man was taken to the hospital, the release said. He died soon after.

Investigators believe he was shot at a home on Tolerton Avenue.

Security is on site, an inspection of the scene is underway.
