The students end their multi-day occupation of the Dal administration building

At 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, approximately 30 students packed their tablets, blankets, water and snacks and filed out of the Henry Hicks Academic Administration Building on Dalhousie University’s Studley Campus. They had been there for more than 40 hours, starting with a board of governors meeting Tuesday afternoon, and decided to leave “on their own terms,” the group wrote in an Instagram story. “We didn’t give up.”

The occupation was a protest against the Dahl administration for voting against the student union president’s proposal to end the university’s financial ties to Israel. “We remain steadfast and resolute in our commitment and demand for @dalhousieu to fully withdraw from the State of Israel and a free Palestine from the river to the sea,” the group wrote.
