Ex-girlfriend’s jealous revenge: Accused of conspiring to kill Belagavi husband | Hubballi news

Belagavi: The city police took three youths into custody on Thursday in connection with the shooting involving 31-year-old Praneetkumar near the KMF dairy in Mahantesh Nagar late on Wednesday night.
Another person involved in the shooting is hiding, the police are looking for him. Praneetkumar, a resident of Tilakwadi, who survived two bullet injuries, registered a complaint with Malmaruti Police Station. Considering the seriousness of the case, Iada City Police Commissioner Martin Marbaniang has formed a special task force to nab the absconding accused.
According to police sources, the reason behind the incident is an ex-girlfriend who was disappointed after her boyfriend became friends with another girl. Praneetkumar, originally from the Kannada district of Uttara, has lived in Belagavi for many years and works as a medical representative.
Praneetkumar was previously in a relationship with Veda. They were together for several years and broke up about four years ago. After that, Praneetkumar became close to Smita. On Wednesday night, when Praneetkumar and Smita had dinner together, the question of his ex-girlfriend came up. Smita got Veda’s phone number and called her, wanting to talk to her.
Smita and Veda arrived at the KMF diary. After some conversation, Veda got angry. Meanwhile, two of her friends reached the spot on a motorcycle and shot Praneetkumar dead. One bullet hit him in the forehead and the other hit him in the knees. After the shooting, all the accused fled from the scene.
City Police Commissioner Iada Martin said, “The cause of the incident was the frustration of an ex-girlfriend who was upset that Praneetkumar had befriended another girl after breaking up with her,” he said. The police interrogate the suspect after opening a criminal case.
