Suspects at large; Nearly 40 shots fired in deadly shooting outside Philly smokehouse

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in Philadelphia’s Franklinville neighborhood late Saturday night, and police are searching for multiple suspects in the shooting.

Officers arrived to find a victim with a gunshot wound to the head outside Culebra II Smoke and Vape Shop in the 3600 block of North 5th Street just after 11 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, a 33-year-old man, was also treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police believe the double shooting occurred when 3-4 men opened fire at close range and then fled the scene.

“It looks like they kept shooting while they were on it. So it was a very heinous crime,” Inspector DF Pace said.

OTHER HEADINGS:

More than 40 pieces of ballistic evidence, including 36 shell casings, were found at the scene.

A car and a nearby house were also hit by gunfire, but no other injuries were reported.

A motive is still unknown and no arrests have been made as police collect surveillance footage from nearby.
