ChD MK is intensifying work to stop unauthorized trade

To maintain order and ensure compliance with city norms, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) on Sunday stepped up its vigilance and measures to stop unauthorized trading. This initiative is aimed at providing citizens and visitors with a safe, organized environment.

An MCC official said in a statement that vendors are allowed to work from 6 am to 10 pm. However, during recent inspections, the team noticed that some vendors were operating outside of these hours. In response, a joint operation by the MCC enforcement team and the Chandigarh Police was conducted in Sector 22 on Sunday, successfully removing vendors operating outside the permitted hours.

Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar emphasized that these joint actions will continue across the city to ensure compliance with the guidelines and prevent encroachments. “We are committed to maintaining public safety and convenience, and we encourage all vendors to comply with the law,” he said.

The Municipal Corporation warns that strict action will be taken against violators to preserve the integrity of public places. In addition to removing the vendors, the enforcement team also removed materials left on the trading floors during non-working hours. Temporary coverings such as tarps have been removed to further ensure compliance, the official said.
