All of them suffered from cough and difficulty breathing. The school management shifted them to Peddapalli District Hospital.

Pedapalli: As many as 36 students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Mutharam Mandal, fell ill on Sunday. All of them suffered from cough and difficulty breathing. The school management shifted them to Peddapalli District Hospital.

According to the teacher on duty, three students complained of a strong cough around 6 p.m. She reported this to the ANM. As the ANM drove to the school, more students complained of the same problem.


Within 10-20 minutes, the number increased. All were taken to the nearest hospital. After conducting a medical examination, the local doctor referred the students to Peddapalli Hospital. A total of 36 students were taken to Peddapalli Hospital.

District Medical Officer K. Pramud Kumar said that apart from cough and difficulty breathing, the condition of the students was stable. All were admitted to the hospital for observation.

Denying the possibility of food poisoning, the DMHO said the students would experience vomiting and motion sickness if they consumed the toxic food. However, apart from coughing, no student complained of vomiting and motion sickness, he made it clear.
