However, it is unclear how many of the strikes are related.

Mr Amesbury yesterday said he had been threatened before the attack at 2.15am on Saturday in his constituency of Runcorn and Helsby, Cheshire.

Cellphone video shows him yelling “you will never threaten me again” as the man lay on the ground.

New personnel received in MailOnlineshows the deputy delivering the first blow.

He appears animated before unleashing a left hook to the man’s head.

CCTV footage also shows the MP, a former member of Sir Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet, being restrained by other bystanders.

The 56-year-old was convicted last year of stalking and harassing Mr Amesbury at his constituency office in a shopping center in Frodsham in 2022.

Warrington Magistrates’ Court was told Stephen Cowell looked through the office window, asked security guards about the level of security and cameras present and followed him to his car, reports said The Times.

The first clip came a day after Mr Amesbury posted on X about a meeting with Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner and Frodsham councilors about policing and community safety.

“I FELT THREATENED”

Mr Amesbury said ahead of the CCTV release today: “I was involved in an incident last night after I felt threatened in the street after a night out with friends.

“This morning I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident.

“I will not be making any further public comment but will of course co-operate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police.

“I remain fully committed to working hard for the people of Runcorn and Helsby and I am determined to remain an open and accessible MP for our community.”

The Labor Party said: “We are aware of the incident that happened last night.

“We understand that Deputy Mike Amesbury has contacted Cheshire Police to report what happened this morning and that he will co-operate with any inquiries they have.”

The police confirmed that they are currently investigating the incident.

Cheshire Police said: “At 2.48am on Saturday, October 26, police received reports of an assault in Frodsham.

“The caller reported that a man attacked him on the main street. Investigations are ongoing.”
