iPhone 16 Black Friday deals: When they start and what to expect this November

Black Friday 2024 falls on November 29, but we’re expecting plenty of iPhone deals before then. Black Friday used to be a one-day sale, but today it’s a broader seasonal sale that usually runs through most of November. Subsequently, I always recommend our readers to keep an eye out for offers from the beginning of November, no matter what type of products they want to get at a discount.

A notable example of early Black Friday deals last year was Verizon’s early bird sale, which took place about a week before the big day itself. While it’s too early to tell if the major carriers will offer similar iPhone 16 preview deals this year, I recommend bookmarking this page and checking back for updates.

In my opinion, generally the best time to buy an iPhone is during the initial pre-order period – right after the device is unveiled. Apple’s carrier deals and promotions tend to be strongest during this initial period as retailers look to encourage potential upgrades and lock in customers for another planning/product cycle.

With that said, Black Friday will be the second best overall time to buy the iPhone 16. November is another common month for upgraders, so you’re sure to find some great Black Friday deals for the iPhone 16 if you missed the initial period last year order. . Plus, who knows, we might see some unexpected Black Friday deals in addition to the usual trade-in discounts and free devices.

First of all, the biggest discounts on the iPhone 16 on Black Friday will almost certainly happen around certain trade-in criteria. If you’re looking for an outright discount, consider trading in your old device from Apple itself or one of the major carriers in both the US and UK. Unfortunately, this applies to iPhone deals all year round, but the savings can be significant if your old device is priced high enough. For example, the usual maximum discounts of up to $1,000 / £650 could knock a significant chunk off the iPhone 16’s asking price.

While trade-ins are likely to be a major part of iPhone 16 deals on Black Friday, retailers are likely to have other promotions available. For example, Verizon is experimenting with direct discounts on the iPhone 16 lineup, along with new unlimited data lines and the option to bundle free iPads and Apple Watches. These are great deals, but the catch is obviously that you’ll need a line on the carrier’s expensive Ultimate Unlimited plan to qualify.

In the UK we expect a combination of exchange and contract discounts. Apple’s own Black Friday iPhone 16 deals probably won’t be that great – expect gift cards at most – but third-party retailers like Carphone Warehouse and Mobiles.co.uk should have good options. Big networks such as Three, Vodafone and O2 can potentially offer good discounts on Black Friday tariffs, as well as better data allowances. Double data, for example, is a common freebie that networks like to give to entice people to switch providers.
