JEE Main 2025: NTA releases key notification for PWD candidates, details here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released guidelines for JEE Main 2025 for candidates under Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Reference Disabilities (PwBD) categories. This announcement follows several requests to provide transcribers and additional time for these students.

According to an official notification, PWD and PWD candidates will be given an additional hour of compensatory time for the standard three-hour JEE Main 2025 exam, taking their total time to four hours. Alternatively, candidates may request a transcriber if they provide the required documents.

“The National Testing Agency has received several inquiries regarding issues related to written and compensatory time for PWD/PWD candidates. The guidelines to be followed for JEE Main with reference to relevant extracts from Government Notifications and Office Memoranda are listed below,” it said. official notification

According to the official notification, the term ‘extra time’ or ‘additional time’ has now been replaced by ‘compensatory time’. Candidates who are eligible for the use of a scribe, reader or laboratory assistant are entitled to at least 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of examination.

In addition, all PwBD-eligible candidates are guaranteed an additional hour for the 3-hour exam, regardless of whether they use the services of a scribe. This additional time must be at least five minutes and be distributed in multiples of five minutes.
