JD Vance just tweeted, then deleted, a post with so much of his own stuff

WASHINGTON — Vice President Elect J. D. Vance tweeted — and then deleted — a message with so much impressive self-restraint that it’s worth taking a moment to digest what he did.

On Tuesday, Vance posted a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, defending his recent absence from the Senate. He is still the Republican senator from Ohio, but he and several other Republican senators did not show up to vote in the Senate. Their absence is the disappointment of some in their party as Democrats confirm many of President Joe Biden’s judges without much opposition from Republicans.

Grace Chong, chief financial officer and chief operating officer of the “Bannon War Room” podcast hosted by Steve Bannon, a close associate of President-elect Donald Trump, took notice of Vance. She tagged Vance and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in a post on Tuesday saying “Guys better come and do your damn job!!” She has since deleted her post.

Vance entered with his tweet. The vice president-elect lashed out at Chong, calling her a “mouth-breathing moron” and said that even if he showed up to vote against the specific candidate Chong was referring to, Court of Appeals nominee Embry Kidd, Republicans would wouldn’t have done it anyway. there were enough votes to block it.

In addition, Vance said he was busy with something far more important than the Senate vote: helping Trump interview potential new FBI directors.

“When this 11th district vote took place, I was meeting with President Trump to interview for several positions in our government, including FBI director,” Vance wrote.

“I think it’s more important for the Republicans to get an FBI director who will take down the deep state than for the Republicans to lose a vote 49-46 instead of 49-45,” he continued. “But that’s just me.”

But Vance inadvertently just revealed that Trump is interviewing people to replace Christopher Wray, the current FBI director. Wray’s term doesn’t end until 2027, and although Trump appointed him in 2017, the two have feuded for years.

Until now, there was only speculation that Trump could replace him. Vance just confirmed that Trump’s team is already taking steps to do so.

Here is a screenshot of Vance’s deleted post.

A spokesman for Trump’s transition team did not respond to requests for comment on whether Trump is preparing to remove Wray before his term expires.

An FBI representative declined to comment.

Aside from that gaffe, the Ohio senator was indirectly yelled at by Trump for not showing up for a Senate vote that he just said wasn’t that important.

On Tuesday, the president-elect said all Republican senators needed to come to work to help slow or stop the Democrats from getting as many Biden judges.

“Democrats are trying to flood the courts with radical left-wing judges,” Trump wrote in social networks. “Republican senators need to show up and hold the line — no more judges will be confirmed until Inauguration Day!”

Vance made a surprise return to the Senate Tuesday afternoon, voting against one of Biden’s nominees for the Oregon federal court. And his tweet was deleted.

However, Chong still remembers what he called her. She mocks him for it on her X page.

Her biography is now read“a mouth-breathing CFO/COO.”
