To keep your winning streak alive, Newsweek has put together a few hints to help you solve the Sunday puzzle without giving too much away.

Since launch The New York Times in June 2023, Connections gained a significant following, inviting players to classify words based on subtle connections such as homophones, synonyms, and word associations. Thanks to a combination of logic and language skills, it is now timesThe second most popular game, right after Wordle.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how to play Connections, share tips for improving your puzzle skills, and offer hints for Sunday’s challenge. Spoiler alert – today’s answers are included below, so be careful if you want to avoid them.

How to play Connections

In Connections, players must group 16 words into four categories based on their connections. Each group is color-coded to indicate difficulty: yellow for the easiest, then green, blue, and purple for the more difficult sets. The puzzles often involve homophones, wordplay, and other tricky twists, ensuring that they’re rarely simple. Players can use the shuffle button to shuffle the words on the screen if they get stuck.

Vina Liu, crossword editor at timesrecently gave her top tips for playing the interview game Newsweek.

“My main advice is to hold off on guessing for as long as possible,” Liu explained. “You may notice a clear category and think you see five words that fit, but don’t try to guess those four until you’re sure which one doesn’t belong. Going too fast can cost you a turn.”

Finally, Liu suggested ditching what she calls “anger resolution,” a method she playfully admits to using herself.
