There is a “real possibility” Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tee Higgins will be ruled out of Sunday’s Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles after injuring his quad in Friday’s practice, according to ESPN. Dan Graziano.

According to Graziano, the Bengals plan to call Higgins closer to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins, who injured his quad during Friday’s practice, is a real possibility to miss Sunday’s game against the Eagles, according to sources. The Bengals plan to continue the game until kickoff before making a decision, but there is pessimism about his chances to play.

Higgins has 29 catches for 341 yards and three touchdowns in five games this season. Andriy Josivas, the Bengals’ WR3 behind Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, will likely get more targets if Higgins is sidelined.

When available, Higgins has gotten most of his targets from Nora. He was especially effective in his last three games with the Bengals as he finished each contest with more than 75 receiving yards.

If Higgins isn’t ready to play Sunday, Chase will fill in as the WR1 for the third game of the season.

Higgins first appeared on the Bengals’ injury report Friday when he was listed limited in practice and doubtful for Sunday’s game with a quad injury.

His potential absence would be a significant blow to a Bengals team that is set to face one of the best pass defenses in the league. Without their top wideout, the Bengals could put more pressure on running backs Chase Brown and Zach Moss to lead Cincinnati’s ground attack.

Higgins’ latest appointment continues the conversation about the history of muscle injuries. He previously missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury he suffered during practice Sept. 5 before the Bengals’ season opener. He also suffered multiple hamstring injuries that kept him out of four games last season.

The Bengals at least got some good news on the injury front, with Orlando Brown and Geno Stone coming off the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game, and after losing the first three games of the season, they look to continue their playoff push. Without Higgins, Cincinnati may need big games from Chase and Moss to get their third straight win on Sunday.
