Missing woman’s body found near DM residence after 4 months, gym trainer arrested – India TV

Uttar Pradesh police on Saturday (26 October) said they had arrested a gym trainer in connection with the murder of a woman who had been missing for the past four months. According to published information, the incident occurred on June 24; however, the accused, identified as Vimal Soni, a trainer at a gym in the Green Park area, was arrested on Saturday after a short chase.

Police said initial evidence suggests that the victim was reportedly upset over the accused’s upcoming marriage, which allegedly led to the crime. The accused buried the body of the woman near the Kanpur District Magistrate’s bungalow.

“The incident happened on June 24. The victim used to go to the accused’s gym for training. She was allegedly unhappy that the man’s wedding had ended and had a heated argument with the accused,” said Shrawan Kumar Singh, DCP East.

“On the day of the incident, the victim had come to the gym after a gap of about 20 days. However, during a conversation between the two in the car, a violent argument broke out. He then punched her in the neck, causing her to pass out, later he killed her and buried her here.” – he added.

The head of the police also noted that a pit was dug to dispose of the body of the deceased. “He tried to mislead the investigation, but after a strict interrogation, the accused revealed the truth,” the official said.

It is worth noting that the suspect was apprehended after a thorough chase by the police. Since he was not using a mobile phone, it was difficult to trace him. Further details are awaited as police continue to investigate all possible angles of the case.
