Dodgers Shohei Ohtani injured his shoulder in Game 2 of the World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers Fans experienced a scary moment before Halloween when the star Shohei Ohtani out of game 2 World Series in pain

Fox sport reported that Ohtani, a leading candidate for this year’s National League MVP award, injured his left shoulder during a failed attempt to steal second base in the seventh inning of Saturday’s game against New York Yankees. The Dodgers won the game at Dodgers Stadium 4-2 and lead the series 2-0 heading into the Bronx.

After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Ohtani had a sprained left shoulder, but his strength and range of motion encouraged the team.

Immediately following the play, the X (formerly Twitter) account for Fox’s Major League Baseball coating placed“Ohtani hurt his shoulder on that slide. There is no information yet on the severity of the injury.” A native of Japan, Ohtani was helped off the field by a member of the team’s staff.

During the telecast, Fox host Joe Davis noted that a Japanese news outlet reported the Dodgers designated hitter saying he felt his shoulder pop.

“Unfortunately, there’s a little bit of a woo-woo with Ohtani and seeing how that affects the rest of the series,” Fox broadcaster John Smoltz said during the game. “We’ll see how that play and that stolen base in that inning affects the rest of the series.”

Ohtani had one hit and scored a run on Friday in the Amazing comeback victory for the Dodgers in the first game of the World Series. The team beat the Yankees 6-3 in that game after Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning.

Known for both his power at the plate and his skill as a starting pitcher, Ohtani joined the Dodgers in the offseason after six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels. The two-time MLB MVP has not played this season while recovering from right elbow surgery he underwent in September 2023.

“I’m not sure about the details,” Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto said through an interpreter after the game about Ohtani’s shoulder.
