Teenager pleads guilty to shooting at NorthPark mall

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A 16-year-old has pleaded guilty to his involvement in July shooting in the NorthPark shopping center.

According to court documents A 16-year-old boy of Rock Island pleaded guilty Nov. 12 to intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony.

According to court documents, a sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 30.

TV6 is not naming the boy at this time because of his age.

According to an arrest affidavit, Davenport police officers responded to a report of a shooting at NorthPark Mall on July 22.

Officers learned that the boy was armed with a 9mm handgun and had been involved in a shootout with another person at the mall. The guy fired a gun several times at a group of people who were on one of the walkways in the shopping center.

One shot hit a bystander in the ankle. One of the shells caused material damage in the shopping center.

The incident was caught on surveillance video.

Later, the boy admitted that he participated in the shooting and had a gun.
