After the discovery of a woman’s body in the trunk of a car, an international manhunt has been launched Great Britain | News

Police have launched an international manhunt for the husband of Harshita Brell, who was found dead in the trunk of a car nearly 100 miles from her home.

Northamptonshire Police said they were looking for Pankaj Lamba after the body of Ms Brella, 24, was discovered in Ilford, east London, on Thursday.

In an update on sundayNorthamptonshire Police are appealing for information from the public as the search continues for Lamba, who is believed to have fled the country.

Chief Inspector Paul Cash said: “Our inquiries have led us to suspect that Harshita was murdered in Northamptonshire earlier this month by her husband Pankaj Lamba.

“We suspect that Lamba took Harshita’s body from Northamptonshire to Ilford in a car.”

Police launched a murder investigation after Ms Brella’s body was found in a car on Brisbane Road early on Thursday.

Police were called by a member of the public concerned for her welfare the day before and officers attended her home in Skegness Walk.

After she didn’t answer the door, a missing person’s investigation was launched and her body was discovered in the car.

Police said a post-mortem at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday found that Ms Brella had been murdered.

The police said that more than 60 detectives are working on the investigation. Lines of investigation include house-to-house searches and property searches.

Officers are also examining CCTV and ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) footage.

“Of course we continue to appeal for any information that will help us find out exactly what happened as we work towards justice for Harshita,” Ch Insp Cash said.

“I urge anyone listening or reading this statement to contact us if you have seen anything suspicious in the past week or have any information, no matter how small.

“We’d always like to get well-intentioned information that turns out to be nothing, rather than everything.”

Police said they made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) because of previous contact with Ms Brella.

Borough officers will continue to carry out extra patrols in Corby over the coming days to reassure the public.
