Disha Patani’s father cheated of Rs 25 lakh in high-profile fraud scheme | Lucknow News

Bareilly: Former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jagdish Singh Pataniactor’s father Disha Pataniwas allegedly defrauded of Rs 25 lakh by a group of five “influential people” who promised him a “high-ranking position” as chairman or deputy chairman of a government commission in Uttarakhand.
FIR registered at Kotwali Police Station in Bareilly city against five accused identified as Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jaya Prakash alias Guruji of Juna Akhara in Haridwar, Preeti Garg and one “OSD (Officer on Special Duty)” Himanshu (his name available).
The accused claimed that he had “strong political connections”.
In a police complaint, Patani said, “Six months ago, my neighbor Shivendra Pratap Singh introduced me to Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jaya Prakash, who live in east Delhi. They promised me a high position in the Uttarakhand government. After that they made me meet OSD Himanshu and then convinced me to transfer Rs 20 lakh to three different accounts and Rs 5 lakh was given in cash to Shivendra.”
He added: “I was told that if they did not fulfill their promise, they would return the money at 10%. It has been six months and nothing has happened. When I asked them to return the money, they threatened me with dire consequences.” .Recently I found out that this is an organized racket, so I decided to file a police report.”
Patani told TOI over phone, “I am sure the accused will be arrested soon.”
SP (city) Manush Parikh said, “Retired circle officer Jagdish Patani has registered an FIR under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 34 (offence committed by several persons with common intention), 384 (Extortion) and 506 ( criminal intimidation).
