Parents arrested for trying to strangle teenage daughter in ‘honor killing’

A couple has been charged with attempted murder in a shocking incident outside a Washington school. The teenager said “her father recently threatened to kill her out of honor for refusing an arranged marriage to an older man in another county,” according to New York Post charging documents.

Fearing for her life, the daughter ran away on October 18, asking for help from the school staff. Enraged by this, her parents came to school for her. The shocking footage shows Ihsan pinning his daughter to the ground and pushing her face into the dirt obtained by Fox 13 Seattle.

The father choked her “until she passed out” and punched the girl’s boyfriend, the documents allege. Zahraa, the girl’s mother, also tried to strangle her. Before the 17-year-old passed out, her father told her, “It’s not right … you shouldn’t do this,” with his arms around her neck, according to the outlet.

As the parents mercilessly tried to kill their daughter, other students, including the girl’s boyfriend, tried to stop them. The footage shows a group of students surrounding the trio, shouting at the father to stop attacking his daughter.

Witness Josh Wagner was driving by with his family when he stopped to break up what he thought was a fight between a group of schoolchildren until he saw a dad choking his daughter. “It was pretty bad. All the children were screaming, screaming,” he said COMO.

Wagner, who held his father until the cops arrived, told the network that he was able to pry his daughter’s hands away. In the meantime, the girl escaped and ran to the school office shouting: “My dad tried to kill me.” This caused a lockout as staff blocked parents from entering, the documents added.
