Jake Paul challenges Conor McGregor after UFC icon deletes controversial tweet about Mike Tyson fight – Boxing News

Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision last night in Arlington, Texas, but he’s already planning his next move.

PaulThe 27-year-old didn’t seem concerned Tyson58 when he won a convincing decision at Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

And so, less than 24 hours after the fight, he expressed a desire to fight with his ex UFC Champion Conor McGregor, who has already made headlines earlier today after post a nasty tweet before it was quickly removed.

The Irishman has not fought in the UFC since a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

You have to go back even further to August 2017, when he last fought in a boxing ring – against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“Dear Conor, I know you told my team you’d fight me at 170 pounds,” Paul wrote on X.

“This will never happen. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight category. Just like it was done before. But you won’t.”

Paul and McGregor have been at loggerheads for some time, with the Crumlin-born man expressing his opinion of the American during a live broadcast in the summer of 2024, according to US Express.

“Hopefully Mike (Tyson) plays a little fool, no one cares about him,” McGregor said.

“How is it even in Dallas’ freaking stadium?”

During yesterday’s post-fight press conference, Paul was asked about the possibility of a fight with McGregor and immediately cited his victory over Nate Diaz as an example of the difference between MMA fighters and boxers.

“Yeah, he (Conor McGregor) would never do that,” Paul explained.

“He knows. He is not his own boss. It’s easy to say that Conor McGregor doesn’t want to fight Jake Paul, but it’s the damn truth.

“Watch him go one-on-one with Nate Diaz, who was easy work for me. It was like Monday sparring.”

McGregor has yet to respond, but given the way boxing is going, a fight between the two wouldn’t be a complete surprise.

In recent years, fans have been treated to several MMA/boxing crossovers, with Paul boasting wins over Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Diaz, all former MMA fighters.

Francis Ngannou also crossed paths with fights against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua before returning to the Octagon after defeating Renan Ferreira in October.
