The administrator of Puri Srimandir lodges a complaint with the police

The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged a complaint with the Baselisahi police station in Puri alleging fraudulent transactions on land belonging to Lord Jagannath at Matitota Moosa in the district.

According to the accusations in SJTA a total of 109 plots belonging to Lord Jagannath have been encroached upon and attempts are being made to sell these properties illegally.

Reacting to the development, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhi said illegal activities involving Lord Jagannath’s land will not be tolerated. In addition, he demanded before Puri Collector and SP to take strict measures against land mafias involved in illegal work.

According to sources, some land mafias have allegedly encroached on 109 plots of Lord Jagannath in Matitota Musa. Moreover, they allegedly sell land, illegally registering it through a notary public.

As a rule, land registration is carried out in the registration department. However, eyebrows were raised after pieces of Lord Jagannath’s land were notarized and sold illegally.

After the incident was reported to OTV twice, the SJTA was forced to act due to the turn of events.

Many land mafias are allegedly involved in the illegal act. A few devotees of Lord Jagannath approached notaries and land mafia.

Notably, the Jagannath Temple in Puri owns over 60,822 acres of land in Odisha and six other states. According to sources, a total of 60,426.943 acres of land in the name of Mahaprabhu Jagannatha Bijje, Srihetra Puri has been identified in 24 out of 30 districts of Odisha.
