The Ducks’ favorite mascot dressed up as a Minion before No. 1 Oregon’s game against No. 20 Illinois in front of a sold-out crowd Autzen Stadium. The Big Ten game is the weekend before Halloween, which may account for the costume… However, the Duck has been known to dress up in a fun theme every week.

After the minion Duck ran onto the field, he was followed by a group of children dressed as minions. It’s hard not to smile during the video below.

The Duck is one of the most famous mascots in college football and always has a few tricks up its sleeve.

At ESPN College GameDay in Eugene recently, the Ducks mascot shaved the head of an Oregon fan against the backdrop of the panel. Then, while ESPN reporter Pete Thamel was giving the show injury updates, Oregon’s mascot covered it with a stupid string.

While the Game Day crew and celebrity guest picker Kaitlyn Olson made their picks, the Duck held signs behind her that read “Pet Take Off Your Shirt,” “BIRD” and “Sydney Sweeney Call me back.”

A little history about “Duck”, which is sometimes mistakenly called “Puddles”.

Puddles is the name of a former live duck brought to Oregon State football games in the 1920s, not the mascot’s current nickname.

The duck has been an icon in college football since 1947, when Oregon State’s first-ever athletic director Leo Harris struck a handshake deal with Walt Disney to license Donald Duck as the university’s mascot.

Before Oregon’s first season in the Big Ten Conference, the mascot traveled across the country on a long road trip visiting his “new friends” in Big Ten Conference. The mascot posted photos trying to get into every Big Ten stadium, even busting out of a Nebraska Cornhusker press conference and appearing on The Pat McAfee Show.

Every stadium except one… Husky Stadium in Seattle, Washington. In the ultimate joke, the Duck missed the home of Oregon’s rival: the Washington Huskies.

Even before the start of the season, the Ducks made a splash. At Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis, Oregon, a giant inflatable duck was snapped up to float down the White River in downtown Indianapolis.

“I hope we can take this Duck to all of our road games this year,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said

Oregon’s marketing team wins, as does the 7-0 Ducks football team. If Oregon beats Illinois, the Ducks will be 8-0 to open the season for the first time since 2013 and fifth in program history.
