3 people were detained in the case of drug and firearms trafficking

Toronto police arrested three people last weekend in connection with a drug and firearms investigation.

Officers say Jonathan Alcaraz Lozano, 24, of Toronto, was involved in the trafficking of cocaine. He faces up to 10 charges, including five counts of trafficking in a Schedule I substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and failure to comply with a release order.

After his arrest, law enforcement officers searched two apartments in the city and detained two more people.

Police charged Jada Salsman, 18, and Reynaldo Nichols, 29, with unauthorized possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and negligent storage of a firearm, among other charges.

Salsman was also charged with failure to comply with a release order.

As a result of the inspection, law enforcement officers seized:

  • Approximately 76 grams of cocaine
  • One Smith & Wesson 40mm semi-automatic pistol with 12 rounds
  • Additional 36 ammunition
  • Digital scale
  • Mobile phone
