Families remember double murder victims

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – The family of 21-year-old Joshua Parsons is trying to pick up the pieces. Parsons and 16-year-old Alexis Wise were found shot to death in a car on Princeton Avenue Tuesday night. So far, no one has been arrested.

Alexandra Kimbrell says her family has been friends with the Parsons since her dad’s childhood. She says that it’s hard for them right now knowing that Joshua was taken from them because of such senseless violence, and she says that neither Parsons nor Wise deserved it.

“Josh was an only boy. He had two older sisters and two younger, but Josh was still a child. I mean, he was a boy.’

Kimbrell says the Parsons are a close-knit family.

“Josh was younger than us. I remember Josh was in diapers and couldn’t talk, but he was riding motorcycles like nobody’s business. He was a determined little guy who put his heart into everything he did,” says Kimbrell.

Even though Josh was a child, he was protective of his girls – his mother and sisters – and it was hard for them to know that he had been taken away by gun violence. It is not the first time they have suffered losses recently.

“They are grieving their father, who recently died in a house fire, so this family has been hit hard. It’s unfair, it’s cruel. Joshua had a family, he had friends, he was important, he will always be important, we will not stop until the people or people responsible for this are caught,” Kimbrell said.

Both Parsons and Wise set up GoFundMe accounts to help their families as they prepare to say goodbye.
