Police have ruled the death of an 11-month-old girl in a bathroom in New York a homicide

The death of an 11-month-old Bronx girl in August has been ruled a homicide after investigators determined she drowned in a bathtub, authorities and sources said Friday.

Little Jazeli Mirabal was unconscious and unresponsive when NYPD responded to a 911 call around 7:40 p.m. Aug. 14 at her family’s apartment on West Farms Road near Boone Avenue in Crotona Park East, cops said. .

She was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Jazeli’s death a homicide on Friday, and law enforcement sources said she was found in a bathtub.

Both of Jazeli’s parents As sources reported at the time, the city’s children’s department was investigating.

In August, neighbors said the child was “purple” and lying on the floor outside the apartment’s front door when her mother ran up looking for help.

“I heard a scream. I was the first. She was knocking on the door,” one neighbor recalled. “She called for help. She said: “Help, my child is dying.”

Another neighbor on the same floor of the house said that little Jazeli lived with her mother and two older sisters, but her father did not live there and was not at home when she died.

According to neighbors, the child’s mother had a volatile relationship with her boyfriend, who stopped visiting her after one of their frequent arguments turned physical last year.

As of Friday, neither parent had faced charges in Jazeli’s death.

Jazeli marks the fourth baby in the city whose death has been ruled a homicide this month.

Authorities identified 4-month-old Ariel Gonzalez died of cocaine intoxication After he was found dead at his home on Eagle Avenue in Mott Haven on Aug. 10, officials said.

And 1-month-old Staten Island boy Joseph Geben Jr., who died July 20, it turned out that he died of starvationofficials said last week.

Joseph, of Tottenville, died of “complications of severe malnutrition,” the city medical examiner ruled.

No arrests were made in any of these cases.
