Man pleads guilty to killing 9-year-old Lenexa boy in crash in Shawnee

The man has been charged in Kansas City, Kansas with the murder of a 9-year-old Lenexa boy in a fatal crash in December, pleaded guilty to two charges on Friday.

Matthew Jacobo pleaded guilty in Johnson County District Court to second-degree reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, prosecutors said. His sentence should be announced on January 7.

Nolan Davidson, 9, was killed in the crash near Johnson Drive and Bell Road in Shawnee. During the collision, the truck driven by Giacobo collided with the car in which Davidson was driving. Jacobo fled the scene, but was found with the help of a police dog.

Davidson died a few days after the accident.

Jacobo was charged with second-degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a firearm while driving while intoxicated.

A wrongful-death lawsuit filed by Davidson’s family against Jacobo was settled in May, according to court records.
