Man stabbed to death in Upper West Side apartment – NBC New York

A man was stabbed to death in his Upper West Side apartment, and police say they are looking for several suspects who may have been involved.

The victim, Alfredo Soto, was found dead by officers after calling 911 just before 10:30 a.m. Friday, police said. Soto, known as “Lobo” by friends and neighbors, was stabbed twice in the chest at his home on West 96th Street.

The fatal collision followed a collision with at least four to five men who left the scene in a U-Haul truck a few minutes later.

“He left to mitigate the problem. It escalated and they hit him,” said a friend of Soto, who asked to be identified only by his last name, Ramirez.

Soto was rushed to the nearest hospital, but he could not be saved. Investigators interviewed neighbors and collected video from surveillance cameras, but it is still not clear what started the fight between the men.

Relatives and friends of Soto at the scene were visibly upset, wondering who was responsible for the murder.

“He was trying to be a good guy. I think that’s how he got killed,” Ramirez said.

Another neighbor said Soto had lived in the house since he was a child.

Investigators were still trying to figure out the details of the case and get a better description of possible suspects.
