RCMP are issuing an alert for a wanted man in Fort McMurray

RCMP are warning Fort McMurray residents that they are on the lookout for the community.

On Friday, the Mounties wrote that Faton Miftari, 40, failed to appear before his probation officer.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Edmonton police issued multiple warnings to Miftari last year.

In September 2023, he was arrested in Edmonton in connection with a series of alleged harassment in which police say he watched a woman’s home, knocked on her door and looked in her window.

That December, he was arrested again for trespassing after allegedly looking into the home’s windows.

A month later, he was banned from the University of Alberta for allegedly stalking and harassing women.

Miftari has previous convictions in Ontario on charges including criminal stalking and trespassing.

He is described as having a medium complexion and 5ft 9in tall. RCMP said he weighs about 165 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

RCMP said he is not to be approached if seen.

Any information about him or his whereabouts can be given to the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4000 or local police.

Anonymous information can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com.
