Police arrested two teenagers accused of stealing a car and shooting a woman

INDIANAPOLIS — Two teenagers face multiple charges after police say they were accused of stealing a woman’s Kia before shooting her.

“Our thoughts are with those victims,” IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson said.

Court documents detail how several teenagers allegedly stole a woman’s Kia from an apartment complex on Indy’s west side early Sunday morning.

Those documents state that the woman was eventually shot after she and her brother went to look for the stolen car.

“Disappointed again. We have members of our communities feel safe walking from their homes to their apartments and getting to their cars. This is what ordinary citizens should do without fear,” Officer Thompson.

Police say the woman who was shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The 16-year-old is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder. A 17-year-old boy has been charged with multiple charges, including car theft.

“The police cannot do it alone. We need the community’s help. We need parents to be parents. We need such a community, that there would be that village, which upbringing, to raise this child. This is what we need in the long run,” concluded Officer Thompson.
