Rebecca Ferguson wants to finish The Bunker Story in 4 seasons

as “Silage” With Season 2 starting this week on Apple TV+, star and producer Rebecca Ferguson is eager to see the entire sci-fi story from the source material told on screen. For this, according to her, they will need about four seasons.

“Silo” is based on Hugh Howey’s book trilogy, which envisions a dystopian future in which society lives in a huge underground bunker because the world around it is uninhabitable.

“I think the whole story of the three books would have to be told over four seasons,” she told TheWrap during an interview about Season 2. — And it all depends on the fact that people like the series, and everything we do is the best we can. get it out there and hope people want more.”

When asked about the status of the Season 3 renewal, Ferguson was coy.

“We’re constantly discussing (the possibility of Season 3). It might be (updated), I can’t tell you. It may not be. We could end this. Or nothing happens. I mean, I could just lie.”

In the season 1 finale, Ferguson’s Juliette Nichols went outside and survived, unraveling a conspiracy by those in power to ensure that anyone who went outside would die. But when she was outside, she found that their silo was surrounded many more silos.

Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off with a mostly wordless premiere episode that follows Juliet trying to get to the nearest silo before she runs out of oxygen. It’s a deeply physical performance that was a challenge Ferguson relished.

“I loved it. That’s what history is. She goes from complete chaos to complete solitude, and that change is so good,” Ferguson said. “I love that (showrunner) Graham Yost allowed the episode to be a moment of her own, rather than a cut-off sound, noise, riot, uproar, anger and confusion.”

The season was also another challenge in that Ferguson’s main on-screen partner is Steve Zahn, who plays new character Solo, a man she finds in an abandoned bunker. The actress said she was thrilled when Zahn accepted the role.

“I knew he was going to do something so unpredictable, and that would put me selfishly in a scenario where the person I’m acting with is going to make every scene interesting,” she said. “He doesn’t look at the whole picture. Steve is watching at this point. That’s how he works, and I’m a lot like him. What would make it interesting between you and me at this point? And then we just play.”

With all of Ferguson and Zahn’s scenes taking place in a different silo than the rest of the story this season, they didn’t just film separately from the rest of the cast — they filmed their half of the season after everyone else had finished, after the strikes. .

The film crew used the same sets from the original silo, but dressed them differently for Ferguson and Zahn’s scenes, which take place in an abandoned, run-down and flooded silo. “Everything just looked so different and neglected, but it’s such a huge space,” Ferguson added.

Although Ferguson loves The Force, she still hasn’t seen Season 2 for “various reasons.”

“I get dailies and clippings, but I don’t want to see them because I don’t see it as my job as a producer of this show,” she said. “After seeing the raw footage with the green and blue screens, I found it really confusing, so I decided it wasn’t a good idea.”

The actress was sick for the series premiere, so she missed her chance to see the first episode on the big screen – “which is very, very sad,” she said – but she admitted that she saw a lot of footage of the scenes between her and Zahn.

“Because they’re so adorable, I was so close, I wanted to see what was going on in the dynamic between us.”

Her verdict? “It’s great.”
