American Airlines passenger shares photos of man ‘on my lap’ in reclining seat complaint

majority a seat in an airplane have ability to recline for a relaxing flying experience, but one man shared how the other passenger’s seat may have moved too far.

In a last post on X/Twitter, a man using the username @av_cova posted a photo of the seat in front of him, leaning back so far that his knees were touching the top of the seat. In the post, he said that he was sitting in the first class on American Airlines flight.

“First class,” his post began. “The dude is on my lap. You continue to be terrible, @AmericanAir.”

In the subject, the man explained that he had limited access for movement in the cabin. He assumed that the seat could have moved so far back because it was broken.

“I can’t use my desk and I can’t get up. I’m in 3C so 2C is clearly broken. AA1851. Please fix this before someone spends a fortune on first class and gets fucked by @AmericanAir,” the post read.

In an interview with Fox Newsuser X mentioned that he alerted the flight attendant about the seat issue, but allegedly nothing was done to fix it.

“He shrugged, essentially saying, ‘It’s an old plane; some of those seats are worn out,” he told the paper. “No matter how I positioned myself, the seat was still snug against my knees. The gentleman sitting in front of me was very sympathetic but he couldn’t lock the seat forward as it didn’t work.’

American Airlines later responded to the passenger’s complaint by commenting on his post, apologizing for the unpleasant experience.

“It’s always our goal to keep our aircraft in top condition,” they wrote. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will pass this on to the maintenance staff. Once again, our apologies.”

However, he was still unsatisfied with the apology, as the man replied: “Maintenance will not review the money I wasted…”

Talking to Foxthe social media user explained that he spent an extra $500 on a first-class seat specifically for extra legroom, which was not possible due to a faulty seat.

This is not the first time a person complains about a seat on a flight. Back in September, Erin Rempel took to TikTok to share a video her experience in the middle seat of an airplane.

The video showed her sitting in the middle seat with two men on either side of her, who stretched out her legs so much that she appeared to be pressed against her seat. The text on the screen of her video simply read: “Woman Fury.”

“Why would anyone EVER need that much space??? I tried to get him to move, but he wouldn’t,” she wrote in the caption of her video.

Her TikTok received over 20 million views, and many people commented that they were just as crazy as Rempel. Some people even called it a show “dispersal of people” – when a man spreads his legs in a public place, usually occupying an additional place or invading the space of others.

“Girl, you need to say something. They don’t need to stay that long, if you’re nervous, call a flight attendant,” one commenter noted at the time.
