Golden State Warriors unveil new 2024-25 NBA City Edition uniforms, paying homage to the Golden Gate Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The Golden State Warriors have unveiled a new look that pays homage to the Golden Gate Bridge.

At the presentation on Thursday, the City Edition uniform presented by Rakuten was demonstrated.

“Last year was about the cable car, its 150th anniversary,” said Kim Trinidad, Warriors vice president of marketing and operations, “this year the Golden Gate Bridge is our shining star on our uniform.”

Intricate designs representing the Golden Gate Bridge can be seen at the top and bottom of the new uniform.

Some may catch your eye right away, such as the custom font design inspired by the plaque on the Golden Gate Bridge.

“Which shows the names of all the builders who built the bridge long ago,” said Trinidad. “We pulled that into the front of the jersey to represent our brand.”

Other details in the form of Easter eggs, not so obvious to the eye, but just as important.

“On the side panels, you really see the architecture of the bridge. So, on both side panels, from top to bottom, you’ll be able to see the architecture of the towers, the rivets that build the bridge, and on top of that, these rivets speak to our team name, and on the other hand, it’s going to speak to our love for San Francisco.” – Trinidad said pointing to the details of the uniform.

The presentation of the new uniform was attended by the CEO of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, Dennis Mulligan.

Mulligan highlighted the obstacles that had to be overcome to make the bridge the icon it is.

“When this bridge was built, there were no state or federal funds to build it. Therefore, people in six districts literally bet on the farm,” he said. “They voted to put up their houses, factories, vineyards and farms as sureties for the bonds to build the bridge.”

Mulligan said the symbol of what the Golden Gate Bridge is now makes for a perfect partnership with the Warriors.

“It’s a place where people do their jobs, and the bridge is a symbol of that, but so are the Warriors,” he said. “So the bottom line is, never bet against the Bay Area.”

The new uniforms will be worn for the first time during the team’s game against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, November 20 at the Chase Center.
