Pistons’ Tim Hardaway Jr. left the game in a wheelchair after hitting his head on the court in a scary scene

Detroit Pistons guard Tim Hardaway Jr. was carted off the court Tuesday night after a scary scene unfolded after hitting his head on the court.

Hardaway took a series of nasty hits to the head while playing defense against Miami Heat.

The first came from the Heat’s star center Bem Adebayo as he tried to drive to the basket for a layup. Hardaway was elbowed in the head and initially fell to the ground, but managed to get up.

Immediately after getting up, Hardaway tried to defend Tyler Herro’s layup, but was knocked to the ground. When he went down, Hardaway hit his head on the court, causing immediate concern for everyone around him.

Hardaway tried to get up on his own, but those around him advised him to leave the game in a wheelchair to ensure his safety.

Hardaway played 18 minutes for Detroit before getting hurt. He scored 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting to lead the Pistons to a 123-121 overtime victory.

Hardaway, in his 12th season in the NBAwas traded to the Pistons from the Dallas Mavericks before the start of the season.

He started all 11 games he played in, averaging 12.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 29.3 minutes per game.

Hardaway, son of Basketball Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway, played six seasons with the Mavericks before joining the Pistons.

He began his career playing for the New York Knicks, who selected him with the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He played two seasons at Madison Square Garden for home games before moving to the Atlanta Hawks.

Hardaway returned to the Knicks for the 2017-18 season, but was traded to the Mavericks midway through the 2018-19 campaign.
