Inquest into Liam Payne’s death: Argentine authorities rule out suicide, self-harm and outside interference

The 31-year-old singer, known for his role in the internationally successful boy band, died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Local prosecutors have since concluded that Payne’s injuries were not the result of self-inflicted injury or any external intervention by others.

His death, according to official autopsy reports obtained by Deadline, was caused by multiple injuries consistent with a fall.

Although the cause of death was confirmed to be a fall, there was an additional layer of complexity.

A toxicology report obtained by Deadline revealed that Payne had multiple substances in his system at the time of his death.

Before the incident, hotel staff reportedly called police to report an “aggressive” man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The investigation into Payne’s death resulted in the indictment of three people, although no suspects have been arrested.

The charges include “abandoning a person resulting in death” and “supplying and facilitating the use of drugs,” according to Deadline.

The three people facing charges are described as being close to the singer and involved in the events leading up to his death.

One of the suspects reportedly had a close relationship with Payne, while the other was an employee of the hotel where the incident took place.

According to Deadline, a third suspect is accused of providing the substances found in Payne’s system.

The judge imposed restrictions on the suspects, including a ban on leaving Argentina. However, no one has been arrested at the moment. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are working to gather more details about the events that led to Payne’s tragic death.

Born on August 29, 1993 in Wolverhampton, England, Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction.

The band first found success on the British talent show The X Factor in 2010, where Payne was in a group with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

Together, One Direction have become one of the best-selling music groups in history, with five studio albums and seven Brit Awards.

After taking a break from the band in 2016, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019.
