Two shots fired near D.C. elementary school, police investigating

A 16-year-old boy died Friday afternoon after a shooting in Ward 8 in Woodland, according to D.C. police.

The man was also taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Police said they responded to a report of shots fired in the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE, when they were approached by a man who had been shot. While treating the man, officers heard additional gunshots and found a 16-year-old boy shot a block away at 2800 Langston Place, SE.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, and despite the measures taken, police said the 16-year-old boy died from his injuries.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot wearing all black, a hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the back and armed with a handgun, police said.

Due to an active investigation, the following roads in the area have been closed: 2700-2800 blocks of Langston Pl SE between Reynolds Place and Ainger Place, SE.
