India and China have begun the withdrawal of troops in Eastern Ladakh after a historic ceasefire

After the historic truce between India and China, the disengagement of troops began at two points of conflict in Eastern Ladakh: the plains of Demchok and Depsang. The move follows negotiations to resolve the military standoff that began in 2020. Indian forces are methodically removing equipment, with officials noting that one tent on each side has already been dismantled. On October 21, India announced a major agreement on patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the consensus on restoring stability, while Prime Minister Modi welcomed the deal when he met Chinese President Xi Jinping at the BRICS summit.
