A local woman was sentenced to seven years for allegedly threatening a public servant by phone

On Friday, a local resident was sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly threatening a government official by mobile phone.

Alicia Arredondo was found guilty of retaliation by a Bexar County jury on Oct. 10, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said.

Today, the same jury sentenced Arredondo to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

According to official documents, Arredondo threatened a state employee over a cell phone in retaliation for their role in the prosecution of her son, who is currently incarcerated at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The threats were recorded in voicemails from Arredondo on November 2, 2022. In a voice message, she stated: “We are coming for you and your family, so look both ways.”

We must protect our officers who work tirelessly to uphold the law and keep the community safe,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzalez said in a news release. Prosecutors or other public officials will not be allowed.

The trial was presided over by Judge Torres Stahl of the 175th District Court. The Public Integrity and Cybercrime Unit handled the prosecution.
