A woman has been identified after being stabbed in a park off Uplands Drive

Police say a suspect is behind bars after a victim was fatally stabbed in a park off Hunt Club Road.

The incident happened at 10:26 a.m. on Thursday. Police say 36-year-old Brctie Berche of Ottawa was stabbed and died of her injuries. She was identified hours after officials first reported the incident Thursday.

A suspect was seen fleeing in a vehicle from the area of ​​Uplands Drive and Paul Anka Drive. The 36-year-old man was arrested on Highway 417 outside of Ottawa near exit 66 in Casselman, southeast of the nation’s capital.

Criminal proceedings have been opened against him.
