Bull girls/Wood River and Wendell boys advance to state soccer championships

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The state football game was underway on Friday, with three local teams looking to advance to their respective state finals.

Bull’s girls team was the first to book a ticket with a 1-0 win over Fruitland on a golden goal by Kirra Thompson off an assist from Pemberley Kimball

The Indians advanced to their first state championship in program history.

Next, Wendell faced McCall-Donnelly. The Trojans scored in the final minutes on a goal by Cesar Murales to advance to the state championship on Saturday. They will participate in the CDA Charter on Saturday.

The Wendell boys soccer team is headed to the state championship!

They beat McCaul-Donnelly 1-0 in the closing minutes with a Cesar Muralles strike.

Wendell will play CDA Charter for the title on Friday!

Wood River was next, easily handling Blackfoot to advance to its second straight title game.

The Wolverines advance to the state championship for the second year in a row with a 5-0 win over Blackfoot. Goals from Jackson Wallace (2), Jack Tierney, Maikol Quinones and Hayden Hvozdas to give Wolverines the lead. Wood River will play Valleyview for the championship on Saturday.

Twin Falls 3, Wood River 1

Twin Falls advances to the consolation championship with the win. They will play Hillcrest on Saturday at 10:00am.

4A boys

Sun Valley Public School 4, Weiser 1

Sun Valley will play Bonners Ferry on Saturday in the consolation championship at 10:30 a.m.

4A Girls

Bull 1, Fruitland 0

The Bull Indians beat Fruitland in a golden goal to advance to the 4A State Championship for the first time in program history! They will play the winner of No. 1 Sugar Salem and No. 4 American Falls on Saturday.

Sun Valley Public School 2, CDA Charter 2 (Sun Valley goes 6-5 on PC)

Sun Valley advances to consolation championship after victory in penalty shootout. They will play Marsh Valley on Saturday at 10am.
