Two Golden police officers were involved in an accident on a highway in Colorado, one was killed

GOLDEN, Colo. (KKTV) – Two Golden police officers were struck by a car and one died Wednesday night while working at the scene of a crash, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

CSP said three Golden Police officers were on Highway 58 assisting with the scene of the crash around 4:56 p.m. east of Washington Avenue. One officer was in a police car and two other officers were outside at the time of the accident.

Another car drove past the roadway, hitting two police officers and driving them under the original wrecked car. The CSP said one died on the spot while the other suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

CSP said the driver was arrested for suspected drink driving and their motor vehicle enforcement unit is continuing to investigate the crash.

The intersection was closed as of 9 p.m., and CSP said it was unclear when it would reopen.
