Shock as Chinese guy grabs girl in elevator, drags her away, arrests her, then releases her

Mainland social media have been shocked by surveillance footage of a 14-year-old boy assaulting a seven-year-old girl in the elevator of their apartment building.

The boy was placed under administrative arrest by police in eastern China’s Jiangxi province after the footage was posted online and sparked public outrage.

A teenager surnamed Liu followed a girl surnamed Wang into the elevator on the evening of November 2.

After the elevator doors closed, Liu immediately covered Wang’s mouth and nose, suffocating her.

He pulled her out of the elevator after it reached the first floor. Wang’s mother, surnamed Li, said her daughter lost consciousness for a few seconds and started crying after she woke up.

Frightened by Wang’s cries and a resident passing by, Liu let the girl go.
