The police seized a stolen motorcycle, a pistol, five stolen mobile phones and ammunition from the accused.

What happened

According to the police, the incident took place around midnight as part of a routine security check, which is being conducted on the instructions of the Commissioner of Police, Gautam Buddha Nagar. Officers were stationed near Rabbit Park in Sector 58 when they spotted a suspicious person approaching on a motorcycle.

The suspect, identified as Sonu alias Mota, tried to flee after the police signaled him to stop. When the police began to chase, the accused opened fire on them, prompting a response from the police. Mota was injured during the exchange and was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Authorities later confirmed that the suspect, who is only 22 years old, is a known criminal involved in several robberies and thefts. The police seized a stolen bicycle, five mobile phones, a pistol and several cartridges from Mota. Guns and cellphones are believed to have been stolen in previous robberies.

“We were conducting a routine check when we spotted a suspicious biker near Rabbit Park,” said Manish Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Noida. “When we signaled him to stop, he fired at the police, and the police responded in self-defense. During the exchange, the suspect was injured.”

The accused is a “known” robber

Mota, who is currently in custody, is wanted in connection with six cases of robbery and theft Noida. The police are also looking for his two accomplices, who managed to escape from the scene during the incident.

“This is a major breakthrough in our ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the region,” ADCP Mishra added. “Sonu alias Mota is a notorious robber with a history of criminal offenses. We are investigating further to identify his accomplices and recover any other stolen property.”

Authorities have assured the public that further checks and patrols will continue in the region to prevent criminal activity. The police are also working to find other stolen items and establish the full circle of the thief’s criminal network.

While Mota’s accomplices remain at large, the police are confident that the encounter dealt a major blow to the gang operating in the region. They urged residents to report any suspicious activity and remain vigilant as the search for the remaining suspects continues.
