CSFD Responds to Satellite Hotel Wednesday for Report of ‘Chlorine Release’

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a small chlorine release in the basement of the Satellite Hotel Wednesday morning.

Three people were treated for injuries that inhaled chlorine. CSFD Capt. JJ Halsey said the first floor of the building was evacuated and those on the second floor and above were advised to shelter in place.

CSFD said the release began around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. According to initial reports, the release occurred during scheduled maintenance.

CSFD and Hazmat 14 units were called to the scene.
