Police: a Mechanicville man was driving drunk with a child in the car

State police have arrested a Mechanicville man for allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car.

Mark D. Knickerbocker, 40, was stopped by police on Saratoga Avenue in Waterford on Oct. 18 for a traffic violation. He was allegedly intoxicated. A child under the age of 16 was in the car.

Knickerbocker recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.9%. In New York, the legal blood alcohol level is 0.08.

Knickerbocker was charged with felony DWI, endangering the welfare of a child and other traffic violations. He is due to appear at Waterford City Court on November 14.

The child was handed over to relatives.
