Bloomington man pleads guilty to burglary after taking credit card reader from business

BLOOMINGTON. A Bloomington man was sentenced to 30 months of probation after pleading guilty to a burglary in which he took a credit card reader from a Bloomington business.

Yann C. Fonseca, 27, appeared Friday morning before Judge Jason Chambers, who handed down the sentence. In addition, Fonseca was ordered to pay court-related fines and fees, as well as approximately $370 in restitution.

In response to his plea agreement, Assistant State’s Attorney David Rossi dismissed Fonseca’s other two misdemeanor charges on behalf of the state.

Assistant Public Defender Brian McEldowney could not be reached for comment upon request.

The McLean County Sheriff’s Office recently adopted a dog named Daisy with the help of the nonprofit Paws Giving Independence, which trained the dog for free and put her in touch with the sheriff’s office.
