Braintree police arrested a robbery suspect who was reportedly naked

Police said nearby Braintree High School was placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution.

An Eastern Bank employee called officers to the 703 Granite St. branch. at 10:43 a.m., reporting that the bank had been robbed at gunpoint, the Braintree Police Department said. news release. The department shared surveillance photos showing someone wearing a gray hoodie with the hood pulled up, flashing a handgun and putting cash in a bag.

Authorities provided a description of the suspect, and witnesses told officers that someone matching that description ran across the street and into the woods near 639 Granite St., police said. Shortly before 11 a.m., a Braintree officer stopped someone coming out of the woods on nearby West Street, according to the report.

“This individual has been taken into custody and is expected to face charges,” Braintree Police said. The department has not publicly identified the person.

The person who was detained seemed naked at the time, according to helicopter images from WCVB. The newspaper reported that the person was lying naked on the road, covered with a yellow sheet.

Police said Braintree High School, located across the street from Eastern Bank, was placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution. According to the report, the authorities are continuing to investigate the robbery and there is no threat to the public.

“We would like to thank the neighbors and witnesses, not only for their understanding, but also for their diligence in helping police with their investigation,” Braintree Police said in a statement. “As always, we appreciate the help of our community members.”
