Two teenagers were arrested for an armed carjacking in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Two teenagers have been arrested in Broward County for stealing a woman’s Mercedes at gunpoint in Boca Raton, police said.

The incident happened on Thursday around 2:27 p.m. on the driveway along Southwest 18th Street.

Boca Raton police said the woman was sitting inside her 2024 Mercedes AMG when the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached the woman and ordered her out of the car. The suspect took off in her car and drove east on Southwest 18th Street.

Using surveillance video, detectives were able to determine that the suspect fled to Broward County.

Boca Raton police said detectives notified the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) and the two agencies worked together to obtain suspect information.

According to the investigation, the suspect was seen getting out of a Honda Accord a few minutes before the crime, not far from the scene of the abduction. Boca Raton police detectives were able to get the Honda Accord’s license plate and located it shortly before 6:00 pm Thursday on Interstate 95.

The detective said that after attempting to stop, the Honda sped off and the passenger was seen throwing the weapon out the window. After some time, five passengers jumped out of the car on foot.

BSO detained all five passengers.

Police identified Kevin McCall, 19, of Fort Lauderdale, as one of the passengers. Police said he was wearing the same clothing described by the abduction victim and had a monitor on his ankle. A key fob from the stolen Mercedes was also found in McCall’s pocket. Authorities said the tracking history of his ankle monitor showed he was in the victim’s driveway at the time of the carjacking.

During the investigation, it turned out that a 17-year-old Honda driver was also involved in the abduction. His ankle monitor tracking history also showed him to be in the carjacking zone.

Police said the woman was not injured in the incident and her Mercedes was later found using vehicle tracking software.

McCall and a 17-year-old boy are in custody and charged with carjacking at gunpoint.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Dale Graham at (561) 620-6175.
