Who is Chase Oliver, an American activist running for the Libertarian Party in the 2024 election?

You know Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, but you might not have noticed Chase Oliver, this year’s Libertarian candidate running for President of the United States of Americaa.

The Libertarian Party is known for its promotion small government and civil liberties. They typically get about 1% of the national vote and have never received more than 3.3% of the vote in a national election. A third-party candidate has almost no chance of winning the US presidential election, but Oliver doesn’t care. Instead of winning the race or spoiling it, Oliver, who describes himself as “armed and gay,” hopes to bring new ideas to the old libertarian ideology.

Who is Chase Oliver?

Oliver is a 39-year-old political activist, sales executive, and HR representative. He received the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination on May 26, 2024, and is the only openly gay candidate. He will appear on the ballot in 47 states, including all important states

His ideals are a mixture of extreme right and left, supports abortion rights and opposes gun restrictions. As a libertarian, Oliver embodies the positions they usually take: reforming the penitentiary system, rejecting US involvement in global wars, and ending mass surveillance.

“Unlike my two opponents, who focus on using government power to solve problems — which ultimately creates more problems — or using government power to impose their views on others, libertarians are different. We seek to reduce the power of government and empower individuals to make their own choices in lifein terms of the education their children receive and the medical choices they make,” Oliver said. “We want to eliminate the government’s influence on our lives as much as possible.”

Here is his position on some important issues:

Abortion

Oliver is pro-choicebut opposed to taxpayer funding of abortion clinics.

guns

Oliver supports the Second Amendment and the “right to protect oneself from violence”. He says mass shootings are a mental health issue. He doesn’t believe in banning guns, but he does place a responsibility on parents to monitor their own children for signs and prevent them from having unsupervised access to guns. He even went so far as to say people should be able to buy a rocket launcher if they don’t intend to harm someone with it.

Economy

Oliver supports free trade, a return to the gold standard, and the abolition of the Federal Reserve. He opposes tariffs and believes that the government and “special interests” should not dictate how people spend their money.

foreign policy

Oliver supports a “peace-based” foreign policy and promises to bring all American troops home if he wins the presidential election. He promotes a policy of non-intervention, closing military bases and foreign aidand criticized both President Joe Biden and Donald Trump for their foreign policies, calling them “authoritarian.” He says he will end all support for both Israel and Ukraine, saying “we must not contribute to the expansion of the struggle.”

Immigration

Oliver believes in simplifying the immigration process make it easier and faster for people to come to the United States and start working and integrating.

“It’s a process that should take days at most, not months or years.”
