MIDLOTHIAN, VA. Americans may be divided on who they want to lead the country next, but one restaurant in Midlothian is trying to unite them with a special menu.

On Monday, River City Diner in Midlothian unveiled its “Election Day Specials” menu, a list of dishes to choose from after the names of politicians running for the White House, who will rotate through Election Day.

“It was fun putting it together,” Allison Hamilton, the diner’s manager, told one customer. “When we got good reviews, I thought we’re definitely going to do it.”

Take the Trump Burger.

Its description reads: “This is a great burger. Huge. Really awesome. Other burgers? A complete disaster.”

“I mean, you can hear it in your head,” Joanne Hall, a server who helped work on the menu, told CBS 6. “It’s witty, you know?”

Also on the menu is Momala’s Meatloaf, described as “a classic of Kamala’s cuisine, straight from the middle class.”

The menu also pokes fun at both potential vice presidents, JD Vance and Tim Walz, and President Joe Biden.

“I was making Biden’s Boozy Blackberry Lemonade,” Hamilton told a customer. “What’s a mouthful for me.”

CBS 6 spoke with Mark Astaire and Ramesh Shukla, two friends who visit River City Diner almost every week.

“This is our favorite place,” said Astaire.

Shulka’s regular decided to try something new: “Unity Soup” at the top of the special menu.

“He heard ‘curry,’ and his face lit up,” Astaire said.

– That’s good! Shulka said.

For some, the choice left them undecided.

“It’s Republican, it’s Democrat, but this,” Janet Robinson said, pointing to her dish, which was not on the special menu. “This is independence here. Now we are all Americans.”

Robinson said she believes the menu could sway customers who may be hesitant to vote.

“It’s unique, it’s different,” Robinson said. “It’s like voting.”

“We did everything we could to get here today,” said customer Kim Skaggs. “Whoever did this wrote it very well.”

Management reported that this is not the first time they have specifically covered presidential candidates on Election Day.

“We have a variety, you have a choice, it’s funny, it hits the funny bone,” said Ross Sorbello, a regular customer. “I’d probably order a sample of all of these, and you know what, they’d all be good.”

With election news playing in the background, customers were more concerned about what they were putting on their plates.

Although people at different tables had different opinions on who they thought would be the best choice for president, there was one thing they could all agree on: the menu was a hit.

“I think it was a lot of fun and everyone who came this morning was really laughing and enjoying it,” Hamilton said.

“Home cooking. Hot dogs, baseball, American pie,” Robinson said. “It’s red, white and blue.”

“The one thing we have in common is that the ground we’re standing on here is the best in the world,” Sorbello said.
