Colorado deputy uninjured after suspected DUI driver crashes into patrol car and flees scene

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (KKTV) – A Colorado deputy walked away unharmed after a suspected impaired driver crashed into his patrol car over the weekend.

“This is too close to home for us!” This is stated in the message of the Sheriff of Douglas County on the social network.

A deputy was investigating an unrelated crash on Kendrick Castillo Way Saturday night when the sheriff’s office says he was hit by a car.

“Fortunately, he was in his car at the time and not out of it,” DCSO said. “He was not hurt.”

The driver refused to stop, continuing northbound on C-470 before officers caught up with her. She was immediately arrested and sent to prison. It has been established that she is only a 66-year-old woman from Alamosa.

The sheriff’s office urged citizens not to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs, noting that the decision affects every other driver on the road with them.

“No one is invincible. To get behind the wheel when you are drunk or under the influence of alcohol, you risk not only your life, but also everyone around you.
