Greeley police are searching for the man who shot and killed a 19-year-old Greeley man Saturday night near the University of Northern Colorado campus.

Police said the suspect knew the man and that this was not a random attack, according to a Greeley police release.

Around 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Greeley police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 9th Avenue for reports of a shooting that left one person injured.

When officers arrived at the scene, they performed life-saving measures on a 19-year-old boy who was lying in the driveway with at least one gunshot wound, the report said. Medics took the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Weld County Coroner will release the man’s identity after notifying next of kin.

Police say felony evidence technicians responded and were on the scene with detectives within hours of the shooting. During the filming and preliminary investigation, a traffic accident involving free cars occurred near the scene of the incident.

Greeley police are asking anyone with any information about the shooting to call the department at (970) 350-9605. They say no more information will be released.
